This achievement not only addressed a pressing need, but also highlighted the importance of the work of recruitment agencies, marking a starting point for formalizing their organization into an association.

In this context, Government Agreement 50-2022, which regulates the registration of recruitment agencies in Guatemala, came into force in 2022. This regulation requires agencies that recruit and select workers abroad to register with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The implementation of this agreement consolidated formalization efforts and strengthened the intention to create a union to represent the interests of these agencies, promoting their development and professionalization.

An important step in our history was the support of the Labor Mobility Partnerships (LaMP), which provided us with assistance in the creation and organization of the union, resulting in our affiliation with the Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce. Throughout this process, we received guidance from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) to strengthen our professional capacities.

At GAREX, we collaborate with Guatemalan government entities, international cooperation partners, and employers abroad. Part of our work involves participating in international forums and collaborating on regional studies on labor migration. This work allows us to promote our vision, mission, and achieve our goals as a union.
